A List of Authors and Public Speakers Who Motivate, Inspire and Educate
Is it just me or has social media has been extremely negative and draining lately? I feel now is a good time to share a list of people who I find motivational, inspirational and educational – and also help keep me sane every day. My list contains successful entrepreneurs who consistently share useful and thought-provoking information while staying away from social media cat fights.
Mel Robbins
Mel Robbins is a sought-after international public speaker and the best-selling author of The 5 Second Rule. I first heard about Mel after watching this video randomly on YouTube one day. I enjoyed what she had to say so, I looked her up and learned about The 5 Second Rule. I bought the audiobook and or the first time in my adult life I was waking up early and creating more productive days. I really enjoy Mel’s writing style and found the research she shares throughout the book extremely interesting . She references scientific studies and research about how our brain functions and tricks us into anxieties, panic, self-doubt and fear. I highly recommend reading The 5 Second Ruleand subscribing to her YouTube channel. Her videos offer great stories and personal advice.
Jen SIncero
Jen Sincero is the best-selling author of You Are a Badass and You Are A Badass At Making Money. Jen holds some of my favorite views on spirituality, personal development and entrepreneurship. In both books, Jen shares personal stories of her past failures, transformations, and successes. She also provides guided exercises and homework assignments to help digest it all.
I recommend visiting her website, it contains free resources, book recommendations and online courses.
Ryan Holiday
Ryan is a best-selling author who has written six books and runs a successful blog with nearly 80,000 subscribers. The inspiration behind many of Ryan’s writings involve stoicism, the ancient Greek philosophy as well as marketing, culture and the human condition. Ryan teaches the reader these theories to be a productive and successful entrepreneur and human being. I recently bought and enjoyed, The Obstacle Is the Way. I listened to the audiobook and easily finished it within a few days. The book expands on the philosophy of stoicism and our response to life’s great obstacles. Holiday argues that obstacles don’t inhibit success, but that they actually create success.
If you are not sold on reading the book yet, follow him on social media. At least once a day I like an article or post he shares.
James Altucher
James Altucher is an entrepreneur, best-selling author and venture capitalist. I wrote about Altucher’s book, Choose Yourself in my last blog post. It made my book list for small business owners and creative entrepreneurs because Altucher’s advice, authenticity and business knowledge are a good combo for me. I receive Altucher’s newsletter and follow him on all social media accounts because I genuinely enjoy his attitude, knowledge and creativity. In addition to his books and articles, I recommend listening to his Podcast. He invites great guests and talks about a variety of interesting topics such as personal development, financial investing and entreprenuership.
Naval Ravikant
Naval Ravikant is the CEO & co-founder of AngelList, a website for startups, angel investors, and job-seekers. Recently, Naval wrote an epic Twitter thread titled, “How to Get Rich (without getting lucky). In this one thread Naval gave every bit of business advice an entrepreneur will ever need.
