Consonant Music is Now Consonant Marketing
2017 was a transformative year for Consonant Music. In Q1, we made the decision to begin paring down our service offerings and start expanding our reach to SMBs and personal brands outside of the music industry.
Throughout 2017, Jean and I deployed change after change. Initially, we launched consonantmarketing.com to a get jump on the on-page SEO. Next, we began removing services from Consonant Music’s service menu. After that, we allocated our resources in a manner that strengthened our core skillset. Consequently, we changed our name, mission and contact info. Finally, we redirected all Consonant Music URLs to the new website on January, 1 2018. Today, I’m sending this letter to tell our clients, partners, peers and friends about Consonant Marketing.
Consonant Marketing is an online marketing, web design and public relations agency located in Nashville, Tennessee. We build online brand awareness that generates new revenue for SMBs, start-ups and entrepreneurs nationwide.
In 2018, Consonant Marketing will provide web design, SEO, online/digital marketing and PR services to small businesses, midsize businesses and personal brands (solopreneurs) operating in professional services, hospitality and retail. We’ll be working with brick and mortar stores, online shops, salons, spas, bars, restaurants, accountants, consultants… and even dog trainers. In other words, “Main Street.”
Condensing the old service menu down to our core strengths enables us to focus all our time on what we do best; building brand awareness and generating new revenue for brands on the internet. Here’s a quick rundown of the new menu:

Simplified Pricing Models
We listened to our clients and developed a simplified pricing structure. In the past, we billed by the hour for every project. Now, we offer entry point pricing that’s easier to understand. We didn’t raise or lower the rates, we clarified them.

TL; DR Marketing and promotion is the core of our business. Since its inception, Consonant Music was presented with opportunities to work on SMB projects outside of the music industry in which we accepted. Although we didn’t market ourselves outside of music, we received referrals. Over time, we realized our agency consistently produced better results for these clients. Likewise, we worked more efficiently together.
I personally spent most of my career working directly with business owners and corporate decision makers. Taking on projects outside of music reminded me how much I love working with small business owners. We learn from each other, we share “war stories” and… ultimately, we make each other better. All in all, this is the right decision for our company and our clients.
